Zoom! Teeth Whitening Zoom! Teeth Whitening :
When teeth are stained from age, coffee, tea, and tobacco, we can whiten them several shades by a simple, customized professional process. With either an in-home method or an in-office laser-assisted method, whitening provides a beautiful change that can last for years.

In-office whitening is our most popular choice. Our office is presently using the Zoom! whitening system as seen on ABC’s hit television show, Extreme Makeover. It takes just over an hour to complete and includes take home trays so you can maintain your shade.

Another option is a professional strength take-home solution with a custom-fitted mouthpiece. This method will take 2 to 4 weeks to produce results equal to that of one in-office whitening session.

Both procedures have minimal discomfort and provide beautiful results. Read more about teeth whitening here.

Prevention:
We are committed to preventing dental disease in all its forms. As partners in striving for your optimum dental health, we will educate you about the latest products, techniques, and information to help you prevent dental disease.
Of major importance is the prevention of disease of the gums and supporting bone structure. Scientific research continues to support the direct relationship between gum disease and serious systemic diseases. The same bacteria that cause periodontal disease enters the blood stream and are directly associated with systemic diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and premature low birth weight babies.

Sealants:
A sealant is a clear shaded plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where decay occurs most often. This sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the decay-prone areas of the teeth from plaque and acid.

TMJ Disorder Treatment:
TMJ stands for Temporo-Mandibular Joint. Symptoms of the disorder of the TMJ include clicking and popping of the joint, grinding sounds, migranes, excessive wear on teeth, and pain in the neck to name a few of the more commonly experienced symptoms. Treatment of this disorder includes wearing a small clear plastic appliance to provide relief. If you experience migranes, ask Dr. Neshat about the FDA approved treatment she provides.

Tooth Colored Fillings:
For years, silver fillings or amalgams were used to restore teeth that had sustained minimal decay or small fractures. Today, patients are electing tooth-colored fillings to improve esthetics, replace amalgam fillings that have failed, and to address their concerns about the mercury content of metal fillings. Advances in composite resins allow for tooth-colored fillings to serve the same purpose as the metal fillings and are virtually undetectable.

Crowns /Implant Crowns:
When a tooth is cracked, decayed, or damaged, a crown may need to be fitted onto the tooth. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth. Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold and other metals. Porcelain crowns typically have the most realistic appearance. Crowns can whiten, reshape and realign existing teeth, adding to a healthy and vibrant smile. For individuals who wish to replace missing teeth, dental implant crowns may be an effective long-term solution. Implant crowns provide greater structural support and last longer than either bridges or dentures. Implants serve as the artificial root to which new implant crowns are bonded. Bridges:
A bridge is a device used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed. A typical bridge consists of a pontic (a filler tooth) that is attached to two surrounding crowns (abutments). Once complete, this bridge structure is bonded into the mouth. Without the use of a bridge, spaces in the mouth from missing teeth can cause multiple teeth to shift, lead to occlusion (biting) and/or jaw problems, and may spur periodontal disease. Bridges safeguard the integrity of existing teeth and help maintain a healthy, vibrant smile.

Inlays/Onlays:
When over 1/2 of the tooth's biting surface is damaged a dentist will often use an inlay or onlay. This is a more conservative treatment versus a crown. Inlays and onlays can be made of porcelain, gold, or composite resin. These pieces are bonded to the damaged area of the tooth. An inlay, which is similar to a filling, is used inside the cusp tips of the tooth; an onlay is a more substantial reconstruction, similar to the inlay but extending out over one or more of the cusps of the tooth. Traditionally, gold has been the material of choice for inlays and onlays. In recent years, however, porcelain has become increasingly popular due to its strength and color, which can potentially match the natural color of your teeth.
